5. Your results
How to read the numbers, and what each part of the results page actually means.
Room by room, then the project total
Results are shown per room first - each room's own floor and wall breakdown, tile count, boxes, and materials - and then rolled up into a project-wide total at the end. If something looks off, the per-room view is the place to check first, since that's where any specific room's inputs (its dimensions, its openings, its wastage pattern) actually drive the numbers.
Tiles, boxes, and spares
Tiles are always rounded up to the nearest whole box, since that's genuinely what you'd need to buy - you can't purchase a fraction of a box. The "spare" figure shown alongside is simply the difference between what a room actually needs and what the rounded-up box count provides - useful to know upfront, rather than being surprised by a few leftover tiles after the job.
Tiles from different production runs (different "batches") often differ slightly in shade, even within the same product line - a difference that's easy to miss tile by tile but obvious once they're laid side by side. Once a batch sells out, matching it later usually isn't possible. This is why every result includes that reminder, and why it's worth buying the complete quantity for a job at the same time, from the same batch.
"How we calculated this"
Each room's breakdown has an expandable panel showing exactly how its numbers were reached - the wall coverage used, each opening's deduction, any floor items subtracted, and the wastage figure applied. This always reflects what the estimate was actually calculated with at the time, even if you look back at an older estimate after the underlying formulas have since been refined - so an old quote never silently changes just because you're viewing it later.
Saving or printing your estimate
The "Save as PDF" button turns the results page into a clean, customer-facing document - your browser's own print dialog opens, and choosing "Save as PDF" there (rather than a physical printer) gives you a file you can send on directly. Everything specific to using the tool itself - buttons, the sidebar, this help link - is left out automatically; what prints is just the estimate.
There's a checkbox above that button - "Include itemized product list when saving as PDF" - for registered accounts with pricing entered. Leave it unticked for a clean summary total; tick it to include the full line-by-line product breakdown as well, useful when a customer wants to see exactly what they're being charged for, not just the bottom line.
The pricing section (registered accounts)
If you're on a full account, a separate pricing section lets you attach real product names and prices to the material list - tiles, adhesive, grout, and skirting each get their own priced lines, grouped by size where that applies. Quantities are pre-filled from the material breakdown above them, so you're only really entering a price - though every field stays fully editable if you need to adjust it. Sundries (spacers, silicone, primer, and the rest) are shown as quantities only, not priced, since the coverage rates behind them are still being validated against real supplier data.
Discount and GST can be applied on top, and the whole thing prints cleanly as a customer-facing quote.
